Description
Comprehensive Neurointerventional Specialists is seeking a fellowship-trained neurointerventional surgeon to join our established private practice as our third physician and future partner. We welcome candidates from a neurology, neurosurgery, or radiology background, with a particular interest in candidates trained in neurology, as our institution also has a need for inpatient neurology support that can be incorporated into the role.

The Opportunity
Third-physician role in a collegial two-physician private practice; your arrival moves the group to a 1:3 (q3) call schedule. Two-year track to full partnership. Majority neurointerventional practice regardless of training background. Duties are flexible and can be shaped around your interests and skill set. For a neurology-trained candidate, any agreed-upon inpatient neurology responsibilities would be folded into the neurointerventional call schedule rather than added on top of it. Flexible start date.
Clinical Volume & Environment
We run a full clinical practice with a busy outpatient clinic, an active inpatient service, and full admitting privileges. Our procedural volume has grown steadily and now exceeds what our two full-time neurointerventionalists can comfortably sustain. We perform the full spectrum of neurointerventional procedures, including:
- Endovascular: mechanical thrombectomy, aneurysm embolization, AVM / dAVF embolization, diagnostic cerebral angiography, MMA embolization, and carotid stenting, among others.
- Spine: kyphoplasty, vertebroplasty, tumor ablation, basivertebral nerve ablation, spine biopsy, and interventional pain procedures.
We practice at the Beacon Brain & Spine Institute, a beautiful facility attached to Beacon Kalamazoo Hospital, where we operate two dedicated biplane neuroangiography suites (one of them brand new).
We have been a Comprehensive Stroke Center since 2017, supported by
- Two board-certified neurohospitalists
- A dedicated 8-bed neurocritical care unit
- A dedicated stroke program coordinator, nurse navigator, and data analyst.
Our stroke program has been recognized as one of the top stroke centers in Michigan by leading national publications for several consecutive years.
Compensation & Benefits
Highly competitive guaranteed base salary — no productivity (RVU) component. CME fund. 8+ weeks of vacation.
Academic & Research
We participate actively in clinical research, and our hospital is affiliated with Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed), where the physician we hire would be eligible for appointment as an Assistant Clinical Professor. Medical students and residents periodically rotate with our team.
Qualifications
- MD/DO with completion of an accredited residency in neurology, neurosurgery, or radiology.
- Fellowship training (or equivalent experience) in neurointerventional / neuroendovascular surgery.
- Board certified or board eligible.
- Eligible for an unrestricted Michigan medical license.
