Description

The Department Radiology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH) are seeking a Division Chief of Pediatric Radiology. This is an opportunity to lead a comprehensive academic pediatric imaging program in only children’s health system in the state.

The successful candidate will lead a division with more than 17 fellowship-trained physicians who provide the complete range of general pediatric imaging and a full range subspecialized services. The pediatric radiology division performs over 130000 exams annually. Because ACH is an independent facility, we are seeking a Chief who can exercise considerable autonomy and assume responsibility for division level budget, and hospital capital equipment processes.

The successful candidate will serve important leadership roles in the Department of Radiology and the College of Medicine (COM).  The Division Chief will be a key member of Executive Council of Radiology, the decision making body of the COM Radiology Department, along with other division chiefs and the Chair.

In collaboration with the Arkansas Children’s Research Institute, the Division Director will support research projects including trauma imaging, nutritional effects on development, resident education via simulation, bone density, and MRI physicist led grant supported research in pediatric neuroimaging.

The successful candidate will demonstrate substantial administrative and leadership skills with the ability to enhance clinical growth, promote academic advancement, and facilitate research. Prior experience with physician staffing, recruitment, retention, and components of group practice management is preferred.

The ideal candidate should qualify for advanced rank appointment of Associate Professor or Professor.

In addition to the Pediatric Radiology Division, the UAMS Department of Radiology faculty offer expertise across key divisions including Breast, Interventional Neuroradiology, Interventional Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Neuroradiology, and Radiology Sciences.  We deliver comprehensive outpatient and inpatient care in conjunction with appropriate consultants and specialists for the diagnosis of a broad spectrum of diseases.  Our mission is to provide high quality patient care while training the next generation of diagnostic radiologists.

Candidates must hold an M.D. or equivalent degree, be either BE/BC by the ABR and have medical licensure or eligibility in Arkansas.  Candidates must also be fellowship-trained and possess Certification of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Pediatric Radiology by the American Board of Radiology or CAQ eligible.  Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience.

Applicants interested in the position should e-mail CV and letter of interest to BJTurgeon@uams.edu or call 501-686-6901 for more information.
